This 120(L)cm cleated plank is made from hardwood merbau to withstand the outdoor elements while also providing a smooth and solid piece of equipment for the children to walk on. These walkboards are great for joining pieces of play equipment together and can be placed at different heights so suit the children’s needs. Suitable for children aged 3+ years.

Each of the wooden walkboards come with the special Aussie Play cleats to secure to trestles and cubes. This ensures each of the walkboards are held down securely so they don’t move while the children play. This also allows them to be undone and moved to suit the area available. It also allows the supervisor to customise the playset to meet the individual needs of the children as they progress in their abilities.

These walkboards come with rounded edges which makes handling and moving them comfortable and easy. These are great to add to existing playsets to create larger playsets or they can be used as an individual item for the children to play with and practice their balancing skills.Playing physical games with this walkboard provides children with the opportunity to develop confidence in managing movement challenges such as balancing, climbing, crawling, bending or stretching.

Children explore new ways to move and learn how to control these movements safely in various spaces around them.

The Cleated Plank measures 120(L) x 19(W) x 7.5(H)cm. Illustrated trestle not included. Soft fall is recommended with this play piece.

Please note exposure to the outdoor elements may cause the board to change shape over time.

Please ensure each of the play pieces are placed on a flat surface and are secured to a trestle, frame or cube using the hook and loop or plastic clips provided with each cleat. Please contact customer service if your cleat is missing any of the hardware.

Timber Maintenance Guide

1. We recommend to clean your outdoor walkboards several times a year. We suggest to use an outdoor wood furniture cleaner and follow their instructions. Also remove any cobwebs, leaves or dirt before cleaning and dry thoroughly in the sun after cleaning. We don’t recommend a high pressure washer.

2. We recommend to sand and oil your walkboards as required throughout the year. The weather will deteriorate timber so the location of the walkboards and the weather such as rain and humidity will wear timber at different rates. Using a natural furniture oil will help to maintain the beautiful colour of the timber and hold the necessary moisture in the wood. Please follow the manufacturer’s directions for oiling. Usually only a light sand is needed.

3. If your outdoor walkboards get wet, we suggest that you dry them out in the sun. This will help to prevent mould and wood rot.

4. For best longevity of your outdoor walkboards we also suggest that you keep them undercover or cover them when not in use. If the walkboards can be kept under a roof out of direct weather and sun, it will help to make the most out of your walkboards.

5. The hardware can become loose over time, so we recommend that you check the hardware throughout the year. This will help to keep the walkboards strong and in the best working condition.

These walkboards are suitable for outdoor use. However as with all timber, the weather will wear the wood. You may even notice a few small cracks which is not a structural defect, but a perfectly natural process, as the wood expands and contracts, adjusting to the elements. Following the above guide on a regular basis will help to maintain the beauty, integrity and strength of the timber and allows you to get the most enjoyment from the walkboards.
